RusKom Presented Its Mission at a Meeting with Istanbul’s Acting Mayor Nuri Aslan and a Moscow Government Delegation

As part of preparations for the International Municipal Forum, RusKom President Hüseyin Kılınç presented the organisation’s goals and mission at a meeting with Istanbul’s Acting Mayor Nuri Aslan and a delegation from the Moscow Government.

The participants also included Alexey Naumov, Head of the Foreign Investment Agency “Moscow Centre for International Cooperation”.

The meeting provided an opportunity to share information about RusKom’s activities and the importance of community initiatives in developing ties between Russia and Türkiye. Working with communities, supporting public initiatives and promoting cultural dialogue are important parts of the organisation’s work.

Nuri Aslan and the development of Istanbul’s international relations

Nuri Aslan has served as Istanbul’s Acting Mayor since March 2025. Previously, he served on the Istanbul Metropolitan and Beylikdüzü municipal councils and participated in the work of community and business organisations.

International cooperation is an important part of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s work. In April 2026, Nuri Aslan met with Moscow Government Minister Sergey Cheremin. They discussed the development of relations between the two cities, economic cooperation and the exchange of experience.

International Municipal Forum: dialogue between cities

The International Municipal Forum is an annual platform for dialogue between government and business representatives, the exchange of experience and discussion of issues related to the development of cities and regions. The 2026 Forum will take place on 23–24 November in Moscow, at the National Centre “Russia”.

The Forum focuses on the sustainable development of municipalities, the urban environment and international cooperation. Such meetings help representatives from different countries share experience and explore opportunities for joint projects.

Community connections as part of people-to-people diplomacy

For RusKom, preparations for the Forum offer an opportunity to highlight the role of civil society organisations in international dialogue. Alongside cooperation between cities, connections between people, communities and organisations are equally important: they create space for communication and mutual understanding every day. By supporting community initiatives and cultural exchange, RusKom contributes to the development of people-to-people diplomacy and helps strengthen trust and friendly relations between Russia and Türkiye.
